Desing was founded with the intention of producing and trading in various food additives. In addition to its principal business activities, Desing has enriched its production program with a range of highly processed fruit products, together with a line of chocolate, vanilla and caramel products. Development of the production program originated in answer to customers’ special demands and needs, primarily for raw ingredients for the food industry, until then imported from developed countries. Currently, Desing produces fruit pastes and syrups for the ice-cream industry, fruit and milk toppings, bakery fillings, syrups for post-mix machines and hard candy fillings, as well as refining fruit concentrates for the soft drinks and drinks industries. Desing’s production programme is completed by the production and distribution of food coloring and flavoring.
The company’s development has led to an increase in total annual income, forming a steady annual upward trend. During 2004, Desing expanded sales by entering the foreign market, and compared to this first year, export income is in constant growth and its products continually draw new buyers. The main customers abroad are: a multinational bakery company called Bake Mark whose headquarters are in Hungary, Ledo from Zagreb, Nestle Ice-Cream in Bulgaria and Evropa and Kondivik from Skopje.
A turning point came in 2001 when Desing became a supplier for McDonald’s restaurant chain in Serbia. Such an emergence into the field of multinational suppliers imposes new demands and new goals. Business and company policy are based on the introduction of HACCP Standards (and have been since the beginning of 2006), monitoring and controlling safety in the production process, continual training for employees, as well as constant customer satisfaction controls.
Desing is on the list of official McDonald’s suppliers and in 2007 this position was further confirmed by its acquiring the status of approved supplier for Nestle Ice-cream. According to World Bank criteria, Desing is listed as being in second place among the top thirty Serbian companies.
On the national market, the main buyers are: Knjaz Milos, McDonald’s, Frikom, Medela and Nestle Ice-Cream. However, the company does not wish to undermine the importance of other buyers within the confectionary and soft drinks industries. In 2007 the number of large buyers using Desing increased after its having entered the Metro Cash & Carry system and Costa Coffee restaurant chain, in addition to its two-year presence in the OMV petrol station restaurant chain.
Currently, Desing has 25 permanently employed staff. In addition, numerous partners are inextricably linked to the company’s business activities, providing a variety of additional services, ranging from book-keeping, commercial and consulting services to those connected with installing and maintaining information systems. The following facts illustrate the dynamic growth and development of Desing: In 2004, there were six permanent employees, in 2005 - ten, in 2006 - 14 and in 2007 there were 16 permanent employees.
By analyzing market needs and demands, as well as market potential, the possibility of further expansion of business activities and investment has been identified. To this end, in 2005, Desing began the realization of a seven-year investment project, the basis of which is the expansion of the production program and its capacity. During 2005, the equipment necessary for the seven-year project was purchased, installed and set in motion. This marked the partial beginning of the already planned and designed production program. The new products have achieved the envisaged market response for the first year of production and have already generated satisfactory income. In 2006, the company continued to purchase technological equipment and commenced with activities connected to the reconstruction of part of the production facility, bought the previous year. In 2007, reconstruction of our warehouse, with a cold storage area of 360 m2, was completed as well as alteration of a further space of 430m2, purpose built for the expansion of production of fruit products. In the September of 2008 we rounded off our investment by opening a factory covering a total area of 1250 m2
